The Foreign Mission Board met in regular session on April 12th at
4:00 P. M. with President Jenkins presiding.
The meeting was opened with prayer by Brother Coleman.
The following were present: Brethren Gwathmey, Adams, Coleman, Jenkins,
Loving, Montague, Williams, Wood, Mrs. Atkinson, Miss Foster and Mrs. Wicker j
also Executive Secretary, Dr. Maddry and Executive Assistant, Miss Ford, and
Treasurer, E, P. Buxton.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Dr. Haddrypresented the question of luncheon for the Board members at¬
tending the semi-annual meeting to be held at the First Baptist Church on
Wednesday, May lltn. Miss Ford stated that the First Church would serve
this luncheon.
Dr. Maddry reported that 8,500 subscript ions to THE COMMISSION have
been received. Mrs. Wicker suggested that acknowledgements of subscriptions
be sent to those subscribing.
Dr. Maddry reported that he and Dr. J. W. Decker of the Northern Bap¬
tist Board visited the State Department in Washington and made a request
for the return of the property of the University of Shanghai now being occu¬
pied by the Japanese. The State Department gave no encouragement concerning
the return of this property.
Dr. Maddry reported the assassination of Dr. Herman

E. Liu, Presi¬
dent of the University of Shanghai on April 7th. On motion it was voted
that resolutions of sympathy be drawn and forwarded to Mrs. Liu. A committee
of three was appointed to draw these resolutions. Those appointed were Dr.
Gaines, Dr. Cousins and Miss Foster.
Dr. Maddry reviewed the work of the Italian Mission.
The treasurer's report was accepted as follows:
