REPORT OF EXECUTIVE SECRETARY - Dr. Baker J. Cauthen
Dr. Cauthen gave the following report:
REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY
Plans are developing nicely for the full meeting of the Board in Dallas. The dates
are Monday, May 5 through Wednesday noon, May 7.
The appointment service on Tuesday evening will be the outstanding feature of the
occasion. It is to be held in the large coliseum at Southern Methodist University,
which will accommodate 9,000 people. Baptists of Dallas and Fort Worth are assuring
us that the coliseum will be filled. We look forward to it with eager anticipation.
On Monday evening at 5:45 the Board is invited to have dinner as guests of the
pastor and Board of Deacons of the First Baptist Church. The dinner will be held
at the First Baptist Church in Coleman Hall. Following the dinner and a message
of welcome by Dr. W. A. Criswell, the deacons will retire for their regular deacons'
meeting and we will proceed to have our Monday evening meeting as usual.
Not only are the Board and administrative staff members invited to the dinner, but
also wives and husbands. We count this a very great privilege indeed.
The Monday evening program will consist of a discussion of the major program of
work on mission fields: evangelism and church development. This will be of in¬
terest to all the Board members and we will invite the wives and husbands to remain
with us to enjoy this because it will be of interest to them the same as to all of
us .
Committee meetings will be held on Tuesday, May 6. All the meetings will be in the
First Baptist Church in the Criswell Building. Area Committees will begin their
work at 9:00 a.m. and the Administrative Committee will meet from 10:15 until noon.
From 10:30 until 12:00 noon there will be a showing of Foreign Mission Board visual
materials. Mr. Fon H. Scofield will arrange this and it will be of interest to all
Board members who are not involved in the meeting of the Administrative Committee
as well as wives, husbands, guests and friends.
