very unlike the pale laces, These need a
good deal of intrcaly anil even coaxing lo
bring them publicly (o their knees, allho
members of the church; but the Indian
nerer wails lo be asked twice to aid in
public prayers. The absence of real
prayer is the banc of individuals and
churches, And how strange that this— I
may add — easy duty is neglected. A
brcalli, a sigh, a look, Ihe simplest form of
words, is pray er, if ire really feel our need
of what we ask. The prayer of faith, you
know, my brother, is as necessary to the
success of all religious elforts, and or¬
ganizations, ns life is essential to all kinds
of existence. God lias so ordered if, and
his order cannot be reversed. This makes
mailers sure. I trust we all shall try to
go on doing all (bo good we can, and have
eternity to disclose it.
