when 1 left, a gooJ house of nut ship nearly

Baptist Churches film Chinee and the col¬
ored) and in tlm dedication of three Baptist
Louses of worship iu Sacramento city. The
money to pay for these houses was' nil col¬
lided on the ground, except seven' hundred
dollars, which your Board contributed to-
waid tho erection of the neat Chinese
chapel. This chapel is the property of tlm

When I first reached Sacramento tlm
First Baptist Church was in existence, but
its incmlieisliip was scattered and discour¬
aged, and they had no house of worship, tin

vices, and the church overwhelmed with
debt. I left them with a large membership,
increasing congregations, a flourishing Sun¬
day Schmil, well attended pmyir meetings,
a commodious and neatly finished house of
vv in ship, and nearly out of debt. My labors
were very arduous ail tlm lime in California,
from the fact of having twit distinct enter¬
prises on my hands, nt the same time re¬
quiring the me of two ullctly diverse lan¬
