ach week we have French believers who share
that God is giving them a deepening burden to
pray and fast for the lostness of the French peo-
^■ple." These words from a Baptist representative
in France alert us not only to the path that leads to
revival, but also to the recognition that this burden indi¬
cates God's desire to send revival. Our nation, as well as
our world, desperately needs a spiritual awakening:
carnality in the Church needs to be replaced with con¬
viction, and spiritual deadness in the world needs
replacement with heart hunger to know God.
This Thursday, May 2, is our annual National Day
of Prayer. Certainly much of the focus will have a 9-11
slant to it. Could the 21,000 of us who are daily Global
PrayerGram pray-ers expand our prayers to include
more people? Could we ask God to place a burden
within us, and within all American Christians, to pray
and fast that Flis kingdom will come throughout
America and across the earth?
If we will, He will.

International Prayer Strategy Office
P.S. If you haven't ordered you new Buddhist prayer
guides (May 12) and your free Day of Prayer and
Fasting kit (May 19), there's still time. Call us at 1-800-
866-3621, and we'll send them to you.
2 Today is the National Day of Prayer (NDP), an annual
event established by an act of Congress in 1952 that en¬
courages Americans to pray for our nation, its people and its
leaders on the first Thursday in May. Please pray for those in lead¬
ership on all levels to include national, church and educational
areas of influence.
ZIMBABWE (southeastern Africa). Anil-
year-old MK (missionary kid) in Harare has befriended A,
the new student who sits next to him. A, who is an Iranian
Muslim, began coming to the school in mid-January. Dur¬
ing a recent devotional time at school, the MK was able to
help him find Genesis in a Bible. A had never read the Bible
before but seemed quite eager to learn. What an opportuni¬
ty for A! As God brings him to mind, pray that the Lord
would save him during his time at this Christian school in
Harare, Zimbabwe.
MESTIZOS OF ECUADOR (mes-TEE-sohs).
Twenty-two Lojanos (inhabitants of Loja Province) re¬
cently participated in a leadership training event in the towns
of Cariamanga and Zapotillo. D, who is the voice of the ra¬
dio program La Biblia Dice (The Bible Says), taught the book
of Ephesians. Most of those who were in attendance have
been believers for less than two years. A handful of seekers
attended as well. Before the conferences started, D was able
to share his testimony with three different English classes at
the technical high school in Cariamanga. Thank the Lord for
the good turnout. Please pray that those who attended will
grow in their relationship with the Lord, that they will be
faithful in the face of persecution, and that they will put into
practice the spiritual lessons of Paul's letters to the Ephesians.
BIHARI MUSLIMS OF INDIA (bee-HAR-
ree). News agencies report that at least 200 women
and girls enter into prostitution each day in India. Many
Bihari Muslim women and girls support families through
prostitution, sometimes at their husbands' and fathers'
instruction. Pray that these women and girls will find other
means of employment. Ask God to show them how to find
freedom and protection in Him.
MIDDLE CLASS OF AGUASCALIENTES,
MEXICO (AH -gwas-kah-lee-IN-tays). Pray for a young
man, R, who feels called to join Team Aguascalientes. Mis¬
sionary Charlie Janney will begin working with this young
man on leadership-training skills and giving him some op¬
portunities to lead some small groups. Team members write:
"Please pray with us that others will also be called out to
take leadership roles. Our hearts' desire is to have nationals
in all areas of leadership."
JAPAN (eastern Asia). Missionaries Leroy and
June Seat, who serve in Fukuoka, attended the worship
service of a group of "Hidden Christians" in January. They
write: "These are the descendants of the Christians who
went underground to practice their faith during the perse¬
cution of Christians almost 400 years ago. Let's thank God
for the freedom to worship in Japan now, and pray that
present-day Christians will not behave as 'hidden
Christians,' but will boldly share their faith with others."
ANYI OF COTE D'IVOIRE AND GHANA
(AHN-yee). A group of new Anyi women believers
has started meeting for Bible study. Please pray that God
will help these women to grow stronger in their newfound
faith, to resist temptation and to reach out to others. Ask
God to give the leader much wisdom in shepherding this
new group.
