1 will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your
precepts (Ps. 119:45, NIV).
1TELUGU OF INDIA (TAY-loo-goo) .
К
is a new
I follower (less than two years) who is eager to teach the
truths he is learning about Jesus Christ to others. God has
given him a boldness to share these truths with people
from many walks of life. He has started several study
groups in different parts of the city. Pray that people from
all social groups would be touched through these study
groups and that new groups would be started in their
social groups. Ask that those who find salvation in Christ
would be burdened to share all they learn with others.
2 ESTONIA (central and eastern Europe).
The Russian Team asks: "Please pray for a volunteer,
Fred Niegocki, as he teaches English to teachers, doctors,
dentists and administrators in Narva, Estonia. The Russian
people are very excited about this free opportunity to study
English. Pray that these groups of people would not only
leam and understand English, but that they would find Jesus
in the process. Romans 10:20 says, T was found by those who
did not seek me; I revealed myself to those who did not ask
for me/ This is our prayer. Please join us in believing God for
those who need the risen Savior in their lives."
3ALAWITE OF THE MIDDLE EAST (AL-a-
weet) . More than a year ago, three Alawite women
made decisions to follow Christ. Shortly after this time, they
began meeting with a worker. They would often discuss what
they were reading, share requests together and encourage
each other. Because they were afraid to attend the local body
here, this was the only fellowship they were receiving. Now,
fear has taken over. They will no longer meet with the
worker for fear of exposure. Please ask the Father to free
these women of their fears so they may receive fellowship
and also gain a boldness to share with others.
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord
is, there is freedom (2 Cor. 3:17, NIV).
4KAGORO OF MALI (kah-GOR-oh). TheKagoro
Team is grateful for the recent volunteer team from
Missouri. They write: "God did many wonderful things to
show the Kagoro people His great love for them! Five villages
received fresh, clear drinking water as a result of the volunteer
team's hard work to repair the water wells in these villages.
Two of the wells had been broken for over 15 years. The
people were so happy to have clean water again that they
came out to dance around the well and cheer on the team.
One village had a special night of dancing for the whole
village to show their gratitude! Even the volunteers joined
the people as they danced to celebrate the good things that
had happened in their village. Pray for the people in the
villages who had their water wells repaired and saw the
Bible stories. Pray that God would draw people to Himself
in these places and open hearts to hear more of God's Word."
5HOKKIEN OF TAIWAN (HAWK-yin). Hok-
kien Harvest-Taiwan Team member Mike Miller shares
that a number of children recently have accepted Christ in
the Toa-na-po area of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. "It is our desire
to see families reached in this community. We desire to see
this community reached for Christ. Dear Lord, thank you
for the tender hearts of children who want to follow you.
We ask you to open doors into the hearts of these families,
so that new churches can be started in this community.
May your name be honored and lifted up for all to see."
6GUAJIBO OF VENEZUELA (gwa-HEE-bo).
God's voice broke through barriers of Guajibo beliefs
as hearts yearning for peace encountered His still waters.
The outpouring of the Holy Spirit was evidenced in a hut
on the outskirts of one village during the showing of the
God Story film. Clapping and shouts of rejoicing rang
through the air as a Guajibo believer translated the story
into the language of the people. Pray for God's grace, peace
and wisdom to be poured out upon them as they study the
Bible through chronological Bible storying.
7 CRIMEAN TATAR (tah-TAR) OF CRIMEA,
UKRAINE. Crimean Tatars are a proud people with
a history filled with struggle. During World War II, Joseph
Stalin accused the entire people group of treason and had
them deported to former Soviet Central Asian countries,
the Ural mountain range and Siberia. Stalin's actions were
denounced in 1956; however, Crimean Tatars were not al¬
lowed to return to the Crimean peninsula until 1989. Many
who have returned live in poverty. Medical care is expen¬
sive, and many continue to face prejudice and hatred. His¬
torically, they are considered to be Muslims, yet they are
nominal, at best, in their faith and practice. Crimean Tatars
are searching for hope and open to hearing the gospel. Only
portions of the Bible are available in the Crimean Tatar lan¬
guage. A group of translators are currently working on a
usable translation of Scripture and have made available a
book of stories of Jesus' life. Please pray for evangelism
efforts among Crimean Tatars and future churches.
