February 1992
Pray for the Global Missions Emphasis to be held on the
campus of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary,
Feb. 24-28, 1991. Pray the Lord will call forth many
more laborers for the harvest.
February is the month to begin making reservations for
the “Jericho” missions festivals being held at Ridgecrest
(July 11-17, 1992) and Glorieta (Aug. 1-7, 1992) Baptist
Conference centers. Those attending will be inspired by
Bible studies, experiential events, mission conferences
and one-on-one times with foreign and home missionaries.
Pray God will use this time to work in hearts to respond to
needs in local communities and around the world. More in¬
formation about “Jericho” may be obtained through
Home Mission Board customer service at 1-800-634-2462.
REQUESTS
ARGENTINA (southern South America). Missionaries Cindy
and Gary Balmain report the Villa Mitre mission has recently
purchased a plot of land and is constructing a building. Pray
these members will make the right decisions as to how they can
share the love of Christ with this community.
ARGENTINA (southern South America). Pray the Lord
would provide safety, good health, language learning, cultural
adaptation and spiritual strength to the Doug Rawdon family as
they continue to adapt to their first year on the field.
ASIA. Pray for the evangelization of the great cities of south
Asia: Ahmedabad, Bombay, Calcutta, Colombo, Islamabad,
Karachi, Katmandu, New Delhi. Pray for effective strategies,
open doors, prepared hearts and Spirit-filled laborers.
BARBADOS (eastern Caribbean Sea). Continue to pray for the
students at Barbados Baptist College as they adjust to their studies
and college life.
BENIN (western Africa). Missionary Rose Corbett writes:
“There is not a day set aside for a national day of thanksgiving,
but thanks is given every day for basic things Americans take so
much for granted. It is interesting to note the Beninese people's
first greeting of the morning is, ‘Did you wake up?’, and the last
sentence spoken by Christians before bedtime is, ‘May God
vake you up,’ followed by the response, ‘Amen!’ Just being
alive and well enough to wake up is seen as being a gift from
God. Join with us as we praise the Lord for the many blessings
He gives us.”
BOTSWANA (southern Africa). Missionary Carol Hylden
asks you to pray for Ditshupo. Like many others in this country,
her grades are too poor to secure her a place in school this year.
She is far from the Lord, distraught and has too much extra time
on her hands. Pray Carol can lead her to renewed commitment
to the Lord through these circumstances.
BOTSWANA (southern Africa). Missionary Jeff Holder is
involved in a new approach to evangelism and church growth
called “storying.” This is a means by which great stories of the
Bible are told in chronological order emphasizing the character¬
istics of God as well as the themes of man, sin, revelation and
salvation. Ask the Lord to give open hearts to those who hear
the gospel message presented in this manner.
BRAZIL (eastern South America). MasterLife materials are
now available in Portuguese through the Baptist publishing
house in Brazil. MasterLife promotion and training will be a
priority for missionaries Bob and Margie Hampton. Pray with
the Hamptons for the Lord’s direction and wisdom as they make
Christ known through this discipleship tool.
BRAZIL (eastern South America). Missionary Susan Partridge
asks you to pray Brazilian Baptists will rise up and confront the
great problem of abandoned children. Pray that the Lord would
give everyone involved wisdom as to how they can be a part of
the solution.
BURKINA FASO (western Africa). Pray for field evangelists
throughout this country. Ask the Lord to work through them to
accomplish His purposes in training pastors, working with
nationals in evangelistic efforts and guiding in the establishment
of new preaching points and congregations.
CHILE (western South America). Missionaries Ken and Divina
Park of Copiapo request prayer for the leadership of the Lord as
the El Salvador church seeks a pastor.
CHILE (western South America). Missionaries Eddie and
Marilyn Graves request prayer for the Betel Baptist Church in
Concepcion as they plan to construct a new building in 1992.
CHILE (western South America). Missionary Bill Baer requests
prayer for the Playa Ancha mission of Valparaiso and the mis¬
sion in Los Andes as they have ongoing construction projects
needing to be completed.
COLOMBIA (northwestern South America). Missionaries
David and Joye Crane ask you to pray they will find the best
way to begin a ministry to the deaf.
