August 2007
Ongoing sectarian violence. Political unrest. Local
tribes vying for control. Exploding population. Hun¬
ger. Genocide. Religious fundamentalism versus
Western materialism. Poverty. This is how the world sees
Northern Africa and the Middle East (NAME), a region
of 450 million people in 26 countries. As the news relates
the negatives of the region, God is at work, but the true
story of new life in NAME cannot be broadcast on national
TV or radio. As thousands pray, a group of Muslim-back-
ground believers hears the call from God to go to an
unreached people group in the north of their country. As
thousands pray, other Muslim-background believers go to
a neighboring country on short trips to share the truth they
have found with others. As thousands pray, believers from
a nearby country move to a country where there has been
little or no work to invest their lives there. As thousands
pray, workers gradually withdraw from an infant church¬
planting movement among a people group, so the local
believers can carry out the work with encouragement from
workers. As thousands pray, people
across NAME are being called to
follow Jesus as they learn of
Him through ways and means
as varied as the people of
NAME (sports, English, busi¬
ness, medical, radio, TV, hunger
relief, gardening, etc.). As you pray
for NAME this month, please pray for a
Summit meeting to be held next month
where churches and individuals will learn
how they can be part of what God is doing
and His future work in this region. Pray that
God will call many to partner with those in
NAME to see that the Gospel goes out to all the peoples of
NAME. Pray that workers and churches that attend will be
united by the Holy Spirit and given creative ways to access
each person in NAME with the truth of Jesus.
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers,
intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men.

PALESTINIAN ARABS OF THE MIDDLE EAST (pal-uh-
■ * STIN-ee-uhn ). "Who has heard of such a thing?" Isaiah
66:8. Can a Muslim child attend a Christian school? Yes,
indeed! It is happening for the third year in a row. In a city
where the population is 99.5 percent Muslim, this tiny
Christian school is reaching out to Muslim families. Pray
that many discouraged and disheartened families will open
their hearts and receive the message of hope through Christ.
«UNENGAGED PEOPLES OF SOUTH ASIA. The Sutar
“ live in India and are Hindus. They are poor and have lit¬
tle status. Of the 2.3 million Sutar people, none are known
to be Christians. They live in the Indian states of Gujarat,
Maharashtra and Rajasthan. Pray that the Sutar people will
have an opportunity to hear the truth of the Gospel that
will spread rapidly throughout these 2.3 million people.

k "unteers is serving alongside followers of Jesus among
* Shiites in the Middle East this month, building a place for
school children to play sports, followed by a sports camp.
Pray that the message of Jesus will be clearly communi¬
cated and understood as believers share their love of sports
with Shiite children and their families. Pray that entire
Shiite families will enter Jesus' sheepfold this month.

FRENCH CREOLE INTELLECTUALS OF GUADE¬
LOUPE. Missionaries asked people to pray for a leader
to emerge who would have the respect, spiritual maturity
and practical skills needed to lead this ministry after their
retirement. God answered this prayer. Please pray for S
and his young family as they lead this ministry, asking that
God will bless them spiritually, emotionally and physically
as they eagerly serve Him, trusting Him to meet their
needs."
BLAST FRONTIER. In January of this year, people were
■■ asked to pray that new national missionaries among the
P people in a Last Frontier nation would be willing to take
the Gospel to unreached communities. A worker reports: "I
thank God for His faithfulness in moving hearts for Him!
Last month, we sent three missionaries for two weeks to
start a new work in P communities where there is no evan-
