"He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will
deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will con¬
tinue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then
many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor
granted us in answer to the prayers of many."
2 Corinthians 1:10-11 (NIV)
1 EASTERN AFRICA. Once every five years, the
IMB's women personnel in Eastern Africa gather to¬
gether for fellowship, inspiration and encouragement. This
will take place this month. A volunteer team and Beth
Moore will be coming from the United States to help facili¬
tate this time together. Pray that God would prepare the
hearts and lives of every woman worker in Eastern Africa,
the volunteers and Beth for this time together. Ask Him to
use this time to change, mold and make each one more into
the image of His Son. The theme is "God's Light — My
Radiance." Pray that the light of God would permeate their
lives so that these women would be radiant for Him.
2LINYI, CHINA (lin-YEE). Continue to pray for the
small groups of young believers meeting here. Several
members of these groups have recently admitted they have
doubts about their salvation. Others have met strong oppo¬
sition when sharing their faith with their family members.
Pray that these young believers would grow strong as they
study together, encourage one another, and become bold
witnesses to their family and friends of the change that God
has brought in their lives. Pray that those who have doubts
would seek the truth found in the Word of God and believe.
"So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and he
answered our prayer." Ezra 8:23 (NIV)
3 IRELAND (northwestern Europe). Team
Ireland asks you to intercede for K, a strong believer
who has volunteered to open her home for a Bible study.
Pray that she will continue to follow God's leadership in
inviting the people He has chosen for this study. K's faith
and joy are so strong they are almost contagious, and she is
an encouragement to all who know her. Petition for her
continued living testimony to God's love in the lives of her
family and friends.
4 TURKS OF TURKEY. "Because of an unstable
economy, many Turkish people feel they are without
hope," writes a worker. "They are looking to the West for
all the answers. As Americans, the best we have to offer
them is our hope in Jesus Christ. As the Turks search for
answers, pray that they seek out the One who is the way,
the truth and the life."
5 WEME OF BENIN (WAY-may). "The village
town of Dangbo is a historical place where the ancient
Weme kingdom was founded and where former Weme
kings are buried in a sacred forest," writes the Weme Team.
"Dangbo has a large high school of almost 3,000 students
who come from villages throughout the southern region of
the Oueme Valley. Dangbo was selected by the Benin gov¬
ernment as home of the mathematics and physical science
branch of the University of Benin, and construction for the
new facilities has already begun. Naturally, we have con¬
sidered Dangbo a strategic town, and a few years ago our
International Mission Board bought land in Dangbo as
strategic property, with a vision that some day a church
would be planted there. Give glory to God with us! Last
month, evangelist A from Djlado church helped in an evan¬
gelism campaign sponsored by a Great Commission Chris¬
tian group in Dangbo, and there was a good response. A
offered to lead a follow-up Bible study with those making
decisions, and a businessman invited him to meet with the
group in his Dangbo storefront. Now A arrives on Tuesdays
for an evening Bible study with the new group. God is the
way-maker, and He is faithful! We covet your prayers for
these new believers and those others searching for the
truth, that the Lord will establish them in His Word."
6 NETHERLANDS (northwestern Europe).
Team Netherlands is blessed to be in relationship with
a new Middle Eastern believer. This young believer is visit¬
ing refugee centers throughout Holland because he feels a
sense of urgency to tell what has just happened to him.
Petition that this man's passion will grow deeper and
wider, impacting everyone he encounters.
-7 CEBU CEBUANO OF METRO CEBU,
/PHILIPPINES (CEE-boo cee-BUAH-noh). Pray
for a husband and wife who graduated from the UPLIFT
skills-training program, and have been excited about having a
Bible study in their home with their children. The last few
weeks, though, there have been conflicts in the schedule and
the Bible study is constantly being rescheduled. Pray that the
Bible study times will become a priority for the family.
8NDAU OF MOZAMBIQUE (in-DOW).
"Thank God with us for calling out Christians from
neighboring Zimbabwe to serve in Mozambique," writes
the Ndau team. "Zimbabwe pastor, Rev. W, and his wife,
C, have made many trips over the last few years, sharing
with believers and witnessing to those who've never heard
the good news. Pray that God will continue to call out
African Christians, from countries such as Zimbabwe, as
