JESUS OUR LEADER; VICTORY.
In the* great work which has been com¬
mitted to us by our Heavenly Father we
rejoico that Jesus His Son Is our leader.
The work started with God, and He Is not
only the author, but He will be the finisher
of 1L Ho calls His people to work with
Him, but In all things we must look to
Jesus as the one who Is to lead us for¬
ward. Ho Is our strength and help. Often¬
times tho work seems very difficult, but
we hear our Lord saying,
“ЛИ
power Is
mine. Go ye therefore,” and we hear Him
6ay, “Lo, I am with you alway.” He has
promised us His Holy Spirit to guide us
and direct us. With theso precious as¬
surances from Him, we eliould never be¬
come discouraged. Wo may be depressed
at times by conditions, but oven then we
ought to look to Jesus, and putting our
hand In His, press forward with rejoic¬
ing that we can follow Him.
At times the way may be dark, and tho
work may be heavy, but let us remember
that there Is victory ahead. The darkest
right will dawn into glorious day. The
longest tunnel will open up into scenes
of beauty — fields rich and mountains
glorious. There Is victory ahead. Our
Saviour Is leading. To the disciples
Gethsemano and Calvary looked discourag¬
ing, crushing, but tho resurrection and the
ascension wero just a little way ahead.
When Stephen was dying, It looked as
though tho cause was suffering, but Saul
was near by and tho greatest preacher of
the world was to come from that martyr
scene. When Paul lay In prison, it looked
Hko tho mighty messenger of the Lord was
chained In seclusion, but it was God’s way
to send out his glorious message through
letters which would go to all climes in all
ages with the blessed message of love for
lost men. When Morrison was dying in
China, after being there twenty-seven
years, and leaving only four converts
among tho hundreds of millions, it looked
then like failure, but the hundreds of
thousands are turning to God in that land
to-day; the great revolution that has and
will come even more in that marvelous
country, shows that Jesus leads to vic¬
tory.
ЛИ
over the earth to-day there are
marvelous changes taking place. Jesus is
our leader; victory is ahead of us.
What we say in reference to the greater
outlook wo can apply in our own States
and churches and homes. Let not the
pastor who is’ faithfully serving his Lord
feel that he is laboring alone and failing.
Jesus is leading, and there Is victory
ahead. Let not the mother in the home
vlio Is struggling with the children hard
to manage, feel that she is alone and fail¬
ing. Tho blessed Saviour stands by her.
He looks on and He says, “In due season
ye shall reap if ye faint not.” Will we
trust our Lord? Will we follow where
He leads? Will we rejoice in Him? Oh!
blessed truth, He is our leader. If we
trust Him and serve Him, there are not
enough powers of earth and not enough
devils in hell to overcome us. Even in
death itself w'e can cry, “Thanks be unto
God who giveth us the victory through our
Lord Jesus Christ.” Living or dying wo
are His. Let us press forward with re¬
joicing.
