LIBERIA
The missionaries and teachers in Liberia and Sierra Leone
are required to report quarterly to brother
В.
P. Yates of Monrovia,
by whom their reports are forwarded to the Board. We give, in a
condensed form, the principal facts of the missionary reports for
the second quarter of 1 860.
Monrovia , Rev. J. T. Richardson reports regular attention to
the duties of his pastorate, without any special results.
Edina and Bexley, Rev. Robert F. Hill, reports preaching at
Edina, Bexley, Farmazetta and Marshall. At the former place had
baptized three-and there is manifestly quite an interest at that
place.
Buchanan, Rev. A. P. Davis, progress not rapid, yet sure.
Preached 24 sermons, delivered 7 lectures, instructed Bible Class 8
times. Three candidates for baptism-speaks of several valuable
accessions from the heathen.
Greenville, Rev. Isaac Roberts, reports 21 sennons and
other labors, Greenville, Farmersville and Bluer Barer. Nothing of
special interest.
Caldwell, Rev. F. Richardson, 2 excluded and 5 baptized.
New Georgia, Rev. S. W. Britton — “We have great reason

goes on gradually; no noise, but deep and effectual. All seem to be
interested in the conversion of sinners.” “The interior settlement at
Carysburg is a delightful situation, both in point of health and
agricultural pursuits. The people are industrious. It bids fair to be
prosperous, and hence a very desirable place. Its growth is rapid
and from present indications permanent. In ascending the St.
Paul’s River, I found its banks beautifully decorated with pleasant
villas, and well cultivated farms of sugar cane — well stocked with
cattle, sheep and goats, as well as poultry. Surely the Lord smileth
on this people, and gratitude should fill our hearts with praises.
My school is doing well.
New Virginia, Rev. H. Underwood, reports the addition of
thirteen converts, “a part of whom are scholars of the Sabbath
